Study of the pathophysiology and the pharmacological therapy of diet-induced insulin resistance and the related cardiovascular risk factors, mainly organ-related ischemic events. Specifically, development of well-integrated in vitro and in vivo models for studying innovative biomarkers and new promising pharmacological targets for the treatment of ischemic diseases (myocardial infarction, stroke, acute kidney injury) and diet-induced insulin-resistance. Evaluation of the pharmacological potential of selective ligands of the nuclear receptors PPAR (peroxisome proliferators activated receptors) in the context of ischemic events in the presence or absence of metabolic disorders. Identification of innovative pharmacological strategies aimed to modulate impaired inflammatory pathways involved in the pathophysiology of metabolic disorders and related- cardiovascular diseases.
