Description:

The current laws assure the complete interchangeability between originator and generic drugs, and the safe use of the last ones nevertheless clinical practice observed that, sometimes, doing switch, that means changing originator drug with a generic one or viceversa, or zapping, that means changing more times brand, had caused undesired consequences, such as an increase in side effects and a decrease in therapy adherence.

The project aims to verify the real presence of these adverse consequences caused by switching or zapping, in particular in dislipidemic patients, treated with atorvastatin and in diabetic patients, treated with metformin. Furthermore this study wants to evaluate the influence that the pharmacist may exercise in these behaviours.

This study is based on interviews with patients through a questionnaire.

On the other side, this project aims to evaluate, always through questionnaires, if over 65 poly-treated patients are adherent to the prescribed therapy. Concerning this, it’s important to know which are protective factors and which are risk factors. Furthermore the study wants to emphasise the role of the pharmacist in the adherence to the long-term therapy.
