Description
Emulsion formulations using both commercial available products (Lipofundin, Intralipid) or customized formulations, contribute to the reduction of side effects of several potent drugs injected i.m or i.v. In particular injection of clodronic acid is painful causing discomfort in several patients. With lipids or phospholipids emulsion formulation the dolorability of high concentration of clodronic acid assayed in rat is totally resolved. Novel emulsion formulations of high concentration of hydrophilic drugs demonstrated to protect the tissues of animals without interfering with pharmacokinetics. This approach is now ongoing in different fields and administration routes.
